Q. I submitted my event, but it doesn't appear online. What happened?

A: Events must be reviewed before they are published. Events are usually reviewed within 48 hours. If your event doesn't appear after that time, e-mail Brian Sander

Q. I tried to submit my event, but I keep getting an error message.

A: The most likely culprit is how you entered the time of your event. Be sure to use military time (5:30 p.m. is 17:30 in military time) to avoid errors.

Q. What types of events can be submitted?

A: Events should be of general interest, be open to the public and occur in southeastern Minnesota. Whether an event meets those criteria is left to the discretion of the calendar editor. Events that appear overly commercial or are not of general public interest will be deleted.

Q. If I submit my event online, will it appear in the Post-Bulletin print edition?

A: In general, yes. Data from the Community category of the online calendar is pulled down for print publication twice a week, usually Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Community calendar items appear daily in the print edition on a space-available basis.

Data from the Entertainment category of the online calendar is pulled down once a week. The Entertainment calendar is published in the print edition on Thursdays.

Publication criteria for the print edition is more stringent than for online publication, so listings are often edited for length and content before appearing in the newspaper.

Q. I have an event that lasts more than one day. Do I have to submit an event for each day?

A: If the time, place and details are the same for all days, the online calendar will accept events that occur on sequential dates entered in the date range of the submission form. If the event occurs on non-sequential days (such as "every Wednesday until Oct. 31"), you must re-submit the event for each day. An easy way to add non-sequential events is to hit your browser's back button after submitting the first event, then change the details and click submit again.
