MANTORVILLE — The Kasson-Mantorville Dog Park committee hopes to break ground this fall or early next spring on a new off-leash dog park under the water tower in Mantorville.

About 150 people, and their four-legged friends, attended Saturday's Bark in the Park event at Riverside Park in Mantorville. The third annual event raised more than $800 toward construction of the dog park, committee member Cresta Melcher said.

The group hopes to raise about $15,000 in cash and in-kind donations before starting construction. The group has already raised about $10,000, Melcher said.

The City of Mantorville owns the land and last year designated it as a city park.
