Ceremonies are planned to celebrate completion of the first phase of restoration work at the historic Mayowood mansion. Work was done to stop structural movement detected on the northwest corner of the house. The house was re-roofed and some cement and stucco repairs were done as well. The 55-room house was designed and built by Dr. Charles H. Mayo for his family of eight children. The Mediterranean-styled villa and 3,000 acres on which it stands became one of the most unusual estates in the Upper Midwest.
