WABASHA — On Jan. 18, 171 observers spent about 700 hours driving more than 4,600 miles to count 112 golden eagles in the blufflands of southeast Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa.
The count in the 10th Annual Wintering Golden Eagle Survey this year was lower than last year's, when 160 observers saw 132 birds.
