The temperature in Rochester reached 97 degrees on Tuesday, breaking the record of 94 degrees set in 2007, according to National Weather Service records. It was also the third-highest temperature on record for May in Rochester. Winds moderated the ambient heat.

The weather service predicted the high in Rochester on Tuesday would be 91 degrees.
