Rochester residents who believe their city council and mayor make too much money, or too little, could soon have the opportunity to officially weigh in on those matters.

The city council on Monday during a committee of the whole meeting asked City Attorney Terry Adkins to draft an ordinance that would create a citizens commission focused on setting elected officials' salaries. The matter will likely come before the council during its July 1 meeting.
