ST. PAUL — With her partner and children by her side, Vangie Castro told the crowd of hundreds gathered on the state Capitol steps on Thursday that the time had come to legalize gay marriage in Minnesota.

The Rochester resident, who works with gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students, said legalizing gay marriage will give them hope for the future.
