Broder forgot to mention that 55 percent of Americans surveyed favor a public option.

Health Care Reform WITHOUT a Public Option is NO reform at all. It’s a won for the Insurance Companies who will continue to screw over the American people with increased Premiums, denied coverage, discrimination due to pre-existing conditions, etc.
How can any member of Congress who has a conscious with Taxpayer Funded/Government Run Health Care Insurance deny the American people what they have?? It just does not make sense!!
It also goes to show that those in Congress who oppose a Public Option REPRESENT the Health Insurance Lobbies and NOT the American People.

You’d have to be a complete fool to believe that a politician cares anymore about your medical care than an insurance company would.
Why insurance companies are accused - an often rightfully so - of doing anything for a buck, politicians will do anything for a vote.
The public option would model medicare in that it imposes price controls. A second grader can figure out if you artificially hold down prices below supply and demand levels more of the product will be consumed than will be supplied. Quality declines, patients visits are reduced in time and increased in frequency where this has happened.
Do yourselves a favor and pick up Applied Economics by the Great One, Thomas Sowell, and review his research on what happens.
Oh and latest Gallup reports put public option support at 50% and Rasmussen now has more people opposing health care reform than supporting.
Not arguing against improving access to medical care, but it should be done a) at the state level and b) in smaller calibrated steps so things can be tweaked instead of driving into this at 90 MPH with blinders on.

“Insurance Companies who will continue to screw over the American people with increased Premiums” - A result of increased costs billed to them by healthcare providers, no change regardless of public option other than someone else pays the bill,
“denied coverage” - Seriously?!?! It will still happen, it does in every social healthcare program, whether because fatty won’t have a significantly better life with a new knee or the particular treatment could benifit but the costs are too high compared to less effective but cheaper alternatives,
“discrimination due to pre-existing conditions” - Hey, I’ve got to give you this one!

Like I’ve said before. We already pay their whole way why not health insurance too. If we could just get them set up with a nice life insurance policy on our dime they should be good to go.

There is an air of desperate improvisation to Sen. Harry Reid's scheme to pass a "public option" as part of health care reform, but at the same time provide an easy exemption for any state that objects to it. The warning flags ought to be flying for anyone who can count to three -- let alone 60.
