Kramer grew up in Johnsburg and graduated in 1977. Scheckel is from Adams and graduated in 1981. Both women still have family and friends in the area and visit regularly.
Saturday's event, from 8 a.m. to noon, raises money for technology and field trips that the school district can't afford.
Kramer has written two mysteries -- "Stalking Susan" and "Missing Mark" -- and is working on a third. Scheckel's first book was "Q.T. Patootie" and is considering a second children's book.
Kramer works as a freelance broadcast journalist. Scheckel works with leukemia and lymphoma patients in the Cancer Center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Scheckel said she was asked to be a guest at the fundraiser, "which I am extremely grateful and happy to do."
Kramer said the area is "part of my base." Like Scheckel, she is traveling through the area promoting her book.
