1979 -- 30 years ago

At Blue Ribbon Photo, you can drop off your color film and pick up your photos in as little as four hours.

An estimated 600 people attended an open house at Rochester Community College. Supper, tours and the chance to go to class occupied the visitors.

A statue of Edith Graham Mayo, Rochester's first trained nurse, wife of Dr. Charles H. Mayo, was relocated to the new courtyard at Saint Marys Hospital The statue was behind Saint Marys before the addition. The statue was sculpted by Mayo Koolman, granddaughter of Edith Mayo.

1949 -- 60 years ago

Calamity and confusion are on display at 8 o'clock in the Central School auditorium as the Rochester senior high students present their fall play, a three-act comedy, "A Change of Heart." Actors include Dorothy Essex and Donald Phillips.

At Roth's Food Market, pork hocks are 27 cents a pound, lard is 14 cents a pound, and California dates are 25 cents a pound.

1919 -- 90 years ago

No one will be permitted to ride bicycles on sidewalks where there is a paved street paralleling them. The ordinance was given its third and final reading by the city council and passed.

Toyland will open at E.A. Knowlton Co. this weekend. All blouses are on sale during National Blouse Week.

A township meeting of the Soldiers' Aid and Red Cross will be at the Salem Town Hall.
