Prairie Home Rochester

Garrison Keillor's coming back to Rochester in January and it's not for a medical appointment. The host of the public radio show "A Prairie Home Companion" will air his show in Rochester at Mayo Civic Center on Jan. 23. Tickets go on sale today. Keillor had a minor stroke in September and was treated at Mayo Clinic, which received glowing reports from him in a newspaper column. He also stopped in the region last month for a fundraiser in Zumbrota.

Weather is sunny

Farmers have been delayed in their harvest efforts because of last month's rainy weather. But the forecast calls for mostly sun this week, giving them a chance to get the soybeans and corn to market.

Philanthropists honored

Edward Pompeian, Sharon Tuntland, The Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation and Minnesota Student Energy Project all know the value of giving. Yet now they will be the ones receiving.

The individuals and organizations will be honored for their work during a National Philanthropy Day celebration Nov. 10, sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Southern Minnesota Chapter.
