Superintendent wins administrator award

STEWARTVILLE -- Stewartville Superintendent David Thompson has been named the Minnesota Association of Educational Office Professional Administrator of the Year for 2009. He received the award during a MAEOP conference last month.

Thompson was nominated by administrative assistant Sheila Gossman.

Criteria for the award include: Support of office professionals, experience in education, personal contributions and achievements in education, and recommendation from the sponsoring association.

Thompson has been the superintendent in Stewartville since July 2000. He was Stewartville's high school principal from 1986 to 1993.

He is active in the Stewartville Lions Club, Stewartville Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, United Way and the Rochester Area Math and Science Partnership.

Thompson will be eligible for the National Association of Educational Office Professional Administrator of the Year award, which will be presented in the spring.
