ZUMBRO FALLS -- A Lake City man was killed early Tuesday afternoon when the pickup he was driving collided with a semitrailer between Zumbro Falls and Lake City.

The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Magdeleno Chavez, 39, of Lake City. He was dead at the scene, the department said today.

The accident happened at Wabasha County roads 2 and 33. It was reported at 12:18 p.m.

Chavez was driving a pickup south on Wabasha 2 when he collided with a semi that was being driven east on Wabasha 33 by Kenneth Tlougan, 46, of Oronoco. The department didn't know if Tlougan was injured.

The accident is being investigated by the sheriff's department and the State Patrol Commercial Vehicles section.
