Post-Bulletin, Rochester MN

Rochester police on Tuesday were able to interview the victim of a shooting in Rochester last week, but the 18-year-old man wasn't able to identify a suspect.

The victim was visiting his brother, who lives in an upstairs apartment at 714 Fifth Ave. S.E., when he was shot in the chest by an intruder in a hallway on Oct. 30.

Four other people were in the apartment playing video games, but no one else saw the assailant.

Rochester Police Lt. Dan Muyres said Thursday that investigators have determined that the intruder was a male, because he made a comment before firing a single shot into the victim's lower chest.

Muyres did not know the victim's condition, but said he was well enough to speak with investigators.

"The victim said it was a dark hallway, and the man had a hood over his face," Muyres said. "He wasn't able to give us anything useful."
