MANTORVILLE -- A Pine Island man was sentenced to 90 days in jail, though it might be waived, and ordered to pay $6,157 in restitution after pleading guilty to felony theft for removing money from his father's savings account.
Robert Lloyd Bartholmey, 42, was charged Sept. 16, 2008, in Dodge District Court with financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult and theft, both felonies.
He was sentenced June 17 to a year and a day in prison, but that was stayed. He was ordered to spend 90 days in jail and do 40 hours of community work service. The jail sentence was to be staggered over six months, and if he complies with the court order, the sentence could be waived, according to the court order.
He was ordered on Sept. 25 to pay the restitution.
Bartholmey was charged after his father suffered a stroke and was placed in a nursing home. Bartholmey had power of attorney, and authorities alleged that he fraudulently took money from his father's savings account.
