Bamber Valley Elementary School
• Nov. 12 -- 50th anniversary celebration. Includes Veterans Day programs at 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the cafeteria.
Past and present Bamber Valley students, families and staff are invited to an open house from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Highlights of the evening celebration include musical performances by students and families; commemorative CDs with songs taught in Bamber Valley music class, $5; presentation of "Bamber Valley Through the Years"; food in the cafeteria for a minimal cost; the Bamber Valley Time Capsule; an anniversary video; and the revealing of the school's beaver mascot.
Century High School

• Last week was the first collection of Box Tops. Holy Spirit will receive $1,200 from the collection. Mrs. Apel's kindergarten collected the most (1,216 box tops); 2nd place goes to Mrs. Gerdes' 3rd grade (970); and Mrs. Gaines' 2nd grade was third (825). Next count will be in February.
• Holy Spirit will conduct a collection for Christmas Anonymous Nov. 9-30. Needed items include food, boots, skates, games and toys, books, winter clothing (new and used), and Christmas wrapping paper.
• Thirteen Math League students participated in meet No. 2. High score awards for Holy Spirit went to Michael Brandt and Craig Schmerbauch.
Jefferson Elementary School

• Pooja Lineswala, daughter of Nilesh and Anjanaben Lineswala, is the Kiwanis Student of the Month for social studies. Her extracurricular activities include treasurer of the Math League, National Honor Society, and Business Professionals of America. She volunteers with Mayo Clinic Young Volunteer Service, Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home and tutoring at Rochester Public Library. She plans to major in biochemistry with the intent to attend medical school.
Lincoln Choice School
• Nov. 8 -- Fundraising pancake breakfast at Applebee's, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Cost is $5 per person; tickets are available in the school office.

• Arielle Eitzen Smith, daughter of Debbie Eitzen and Greg Smith, has been named Kiwanis Student of the Month for theology. Arielle is an honor roll student whose activities include cheerleading, dance line, Art Club, liturgical choir, Eucharistic minister, Drama Club, library aide and PALS. She plans to major in fashion merchandising in art school.

Rochester Central Lutheran School
• In October students participated in the United Way Winter Outerwear Drive and collected more than 40 coats, 10 pairs of snowpants, and many hats, mittens, gloves, scarves and boots. 6th graders spent two hours getting items ready for the families.
• The 1st grade invites RCLS families to "Stuff the Turkey" for Channel One Food Shelf. Each classroom has a turkey box to fill with nonperishable food items. The collection runs through Nov. 23.

• The St. John Math League The Infinites team came in 1st at a competition Nov. 1, and the Algebrains came in 4th. Ian McMeeking, Seah Buttar, George Berg, John Yap and Kylie Oh received perfect scores. The top three 8th grade students were George Berg, John Yap and Kylie Oh, top two 7th grade students were Annabelle Paulik and Nick Johnson.
