A Stewartville man has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for drug activity involving methamphetamine in 2007.
On Tuesday, Olmsted District Judge Robert Birnbaum ordered Derek Leroy Thielen, 27, to serve 94 months in prison, with credit for 54 days served in jail. Thielen won't be eligible for parole until he's served two-thirds of the prison sentence.
He pleaded guilty Sept. 15 to first-degree controlled substance crime for the sale of methamphetamine in December 2007. Drug charges filed in 2008 stemming from a drug bust at a Stewartville apartment were dismissed.
Thielen also pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge from January 2009. Birnbaum sentenced him to 17 months prison on that conviction, to run concurrently with the drug conviction.
