A 24-year-old Owatonna woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly shoplifting $1,245 worth of merchandise from Herberger's at the Apache Mall.

Police Lt. Dan Muyres said an employee called police about 8 p.m. to report a woman acting suspiciously in the store. The employee saw the woman hiding merchandise in her purse, so the employee followed her outside of the store and detained her.

Muyres said the woman tried to steal a $280 coat, three wallets, three hats, five bras, sleepwear and a pair of jeans.
