WINONA -- Winona County prosecutors plan to convene a new grand jury against James Raymond Bolstad, a week after a judge dismissed his indictment for his alleged role in a murder 24 years ago.
Judge Jeff Thompson says "errors" by the prosecutor's office raised questions about the impartiality of the grand jury.
The 63-year-old Bolstad had been indicted in the 1985 murder of Ada Senenfelder. Thompson says prosecutors introduced inadmissible evidence that unfairly prejudiced the grand jury.
Prosecutors say Bolstad orchestrated violence against Senenfelder from jail, where he was held on a probation violation after Senenfelder accused him of sexually assaulting her daughter.
A prosecutor says his office has enough information to make a new indictment highly likely.
