The World Series is still in progress -- which I love -- but it's really football season. And there's some sort of big rivalry Sunday, I guess. Read on.

Vikings fans might like this blog. There are so many blogs devoted to the beloved Vikes that it's hard to choose. This one seemed fun and a good mix of the Xs and Os discussion, as well as goofy stuff that fuels this border battle with the Packers. Take a look.

This one comes courtesy of Jeff Pieters, our city and county reporter at the P-B who's a devoted Packer backer. I have to say, it's as fun and quirky as he billed it. The animation is funny.
Some say football is poetry in motion. Well, here's your poetry. We use that term loosely, but it's a book of football-inspired poetry around the rivalry. You can even order a copy if you're so moved. Or offer some of your own handiwork for the author's consideration.
Follow Golden Eagle 42's progress toward Wabasha on this blog. There is a ton of birding information that is worth reading, but I especially like them charting the progress of this Golden Eagle that's expected to hang out near Wabasha where it was first spotted and tracked.
I feel like I need the sound effect here of Homer Simpson expressing his appreciation of beer, "Mmmm, beer." This is a great beer site focused solely on Twin City beer makers. Don't be put out, Rochesterites. It's a great site to guide you to tastings, tappings, you name it, if it's dealing with micro brews and the pubs that feature them, you'll find it here. So enjoy.

Ruminate magazine has some great stuff. It's focused on faith and literature. Its blogs are nicely done and can point you to even more interesting pieces that fit the bill. I like it for an occasional visit.
People are firing up their fireplaces or even still enjoying a backyard fire. Here's a site for you to review before you chuck stuff into that fire. It shows what's good and bad and tells you why. And, if it's outdoors, it never hurts to venture next door to alert your neighbors to your plans. It's called being polite. Thanks to John Weiss, a veteran outdoors and regional writer at the P-B, for passing this one along.
