Warriors force 7 turnovers

CALEDONIA -- Defending state Class AA championship Caledonia overwhelmed St. Charles for the second time this season.

The Warriors (9-0) defeated St. Charles 80-0 to open the season.

Top-seeded Caledonia, ranked No. 1 in the state, forced seven turnovers and got a pair of defensive scores to win its 20th straight game, dating back to last season.

Isaac Fruechte had a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown, while Seth Kasten had a 23-yard fumble return for a TD.

Ivan Augedahl had scoring runs of 7 and 2 yards for the Warriors. He had 30 yards on four carries.

Caledonia did not throw a pass in the game and rushed for 249 yards.

Matt Petersen had 73 yards rushing on eight attempts. He had a 1-yard TD run. Brett Colsch had 61 yards rushing on nine carries.

St. Charles had 119 yards passing and 62 rushing for 181 total. Cole Small had 44 yards on five carries.

Joseph Montgomery was 15-for-35 passing for 119 yards and two interceptions. Matt Putzier had three catches for 31 yards.
