29 MLB teams try to earn championships, 1 simply buys them. It isn’t envy, it is fact. Go Phillies.

MLB needs a salary cap. It’s sad when the Yankees can spend unlimited money on any player they want.

Who needs $25 Million + annually just to throw a ball, catch a ball, and hit a ball???

Mrs_C—Please keep socialism out of baseball. If someone can pay that salary—let them pay it. If no one went to the games—they wouldn’t get the 25 million +.
The best game this year was the tie-breaker between the Twins and the Tigers.
To all those who whine that the Yanks buy the series are only part-time fans anyhow.

Many of the MLB owners have the ability to pay huge salaries, to many players, to buy a championship, to be like the Yankees. Most choose not to compete.
Steinbrenner wants to win more than the other owners and provides us with a target to hate.
As the saying goes, my favorite team is the Twins and my second favorite team is anyone playing the Yankees.

Sour grapes - if it was “your” team that would spend millions and end up in the World Series, I’m sure you would all sing a different tune...:)
If the Yankees can simply “buy” the title, why didn’t they do it in the last six years?

Excuse me for a minute, I need to go outside and check to see if the moon is blue. :)

The only rea$on I would want the Yank$$ to win i$ $o that I can watch the impending ego implo$ion. It will happen, mark my word. Once they all get their ring$, they will all $tart bragging on how they were the rea$on that the team won. The teamwork that $hows now will di$appear into the New York $ewer $y$tem faster than an unwanted pet alligator. $teinny will then have to go out and find a new bunch of ego$ to buy off the re$t of the league and try again.

and the YANKEES are World Champions agin! 27 times!! Well said Irishman. Pohlad had much, much more money to begin with and wouldn’t compete and spend it. Steinbrenner liked winning it all so much in the 90’s he did what most of us would do if we had it. Pay your players and KEEP them! Improve if you can! Try to win! The Mets have spent a lot(along with 4-5 other teams) and not done well. Agreed, Mauer will look good in pinstripes! And it is comical for Twins fans to keep whining about it. The players on the Twins(an Gardenhire) call the Yankees classy, and don’t make excuses like many fans. Making a salary cap doesn’t force owners to reach the cap. The Vikings have spent A LOT more than A LOT of teams-- complaining about that?? Can’t wait for #28 next year!
