Rockets swimmers, divers roll to Big Nine title

ALBERT LEA -- Rochester John Marshall got a meet and pool record from its 200 freestyle relay team, and finished first in seven events en route to winning the Big Nine Conference girls swimming and diving meet Saturday.

The Rockets, ranked in the top 10 in state Class AA, scored 527 points for first. Faribault was far back in second place with 299. Century was third with 265 and Mayo sixth with 179.

The JM 200 freestyle relay team consisted of Brianna Fujan, Caitlin Fujan, Taylor Bass and Allison Schumacher. They were timed in 1:40.38.

Brianna Fujan was first in the 200 individual medley in a pool record 2:13.95 and first in the 100 backstroke in a pool record 1:00.98. Schumacher was first in the 50 freestyle in 24.78 and first in the 100 freestyle (53.84).

Century got first places from Claire Anderson in the 100 butterfly (1:00.87) and Jennifer Strom in the 100 backstroke (1:09.89). Mayo's highest finish came from Lauren Ulsh in the 100 backstroke, where she was second (1:11.23).
