Rochester Community and Technical College will be taking at least two fan buses to St. Cloud on Sunday for the Minnesota College Athletic Conference state championship football game.
RCTC (10-0) will play Central Lakes (9-1) for the state crown. The Yellowjackets return to the state title game after missing the playoffs a year ago. RCTC played in 12 straight state championship games from 1996-2007, winning nine times.
The charter buses are being sponsored by Student Life at RCTC and there is no charge for transportation. The buses will begin loading at 9 a.m. Sunday at the main entrance of the Regional Sports Center and will leave at 9:30. The game begins at 1 p.m. at St. Cloud State University.

Yellowjackets coach Brad LaPlante is hoping for a large fan turnout.
"It would be nice," he said. "Hopefully we'll get it done."
RCTC was ranked 10th in the nation in last week's junior college poll while Central Lakes was tied for 12th. The Yellowjackets beat Central Lakes 27-6 earlier this season in Rochester.

Rochester Community and Technical College had two volleyball players named to the MCAC All-State team. Alyssa Franzen was named first-team All-State and Kylie Dykes was named to the second team.
Franzen led the Yellowjackets with 217 kills and an average of 2.9 per game. Dykes was second on the team with 167 kills, 2.1 per game. She also led the tam with 101 blocks, 1.3 per game.
RCTC finished second in both the state tournament and the Region XIII tournament to Ridgewater.

Kasson-Mantorville grad Jennifer Bradford has been named one of four captains for the Winona State University women's track and field team for the 2009-10 indoor and outdoor season.
Bradford is a senior sprinter for the Warriors. She was all-conference in the NSIC in 2007 in the 400-meter dash and was academic all-conference in both 2008 and 2009. Bradford holds the school record in the 600-meter run and is part of four relays that hold school records.

Winona Cotter grad Thomas O'Brien has been splitting time at quarterback at South Dakota State this season. O'Brien, a redshirt freshman, has completed 69 of 105 passes (65.7 percent) with five touchdowns at two interceptions. He is averaging 106.3 yards passing per game and has an efficiency rating of 137.1.
The Jackrabbits are 7-1 on the season and have outscored foes 230-91. SDSU is ranked in the top 10 of the Division I Football Championship Subdivision rankings.
The Jackrabbits will play at Minnesota on Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. The game is not expected to be televised.

Jason Garvens of Byron has earned first-team all-conference honors in the WIAC for his performance in the men's cross country conference meet. Garvens, a junior at Wisconsin-Platteville, placed second overall in the meet with a time of 25:35, six seconds off the lead. Garvens helped Platteville finish in a tie for second in the team standings behind Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The 30th annual Lourdes Auction will take place on Saturday at Lourdes High School. Th e event will begin at 5 p.m. and includes a silent auction, dinner and live auction.
