Retired teacher says do homework before voting in school electi

10/23/2009 7:00:02 AM

I've been insulted! Kathy Green's letter on Oct. 19 to the Post Bulletin suggests that anyone who has held on "official" position with the Austin public schools can't be fair and objective!

That suggests to me that my eight years of serving on the Austin School Board were tainted and severely biased. I like to believe my years in the classroom gave me a perspective that made a positive contribution to the educational climate of the Austin students. No one is without their biases, but to suggest that those with a "school connection" can't judge an issue on its merit is to insult the professional integrity of those with a "school connection."

I, too, urge you to do your homework before you vote on Nov. 3.

Retired teacher and former Austin School Board Member
