Honor our veterans and their families on Veterans Day

We, Arlan and Marge Wilson, will Celebrate Veterans' (Armistice) Day with the giving of thanks for each and every military man and woman, our veterans, and their families, for the sacrifices they give and have given that our family can be free.

For several years one area worship center has held solemn, moving, spiritual, and patriotic veteran's memorial ceremonies and services with color guard; songs (bagpipes playing Amazing Grace); speakers with impressive military rank and service records; a large screen showing faces of local fallen heroes; microphone time for all mothers, fathers, wives, children, relatives, friends, and fellow veterans wanting to honor the memory of their "fallen service person"; presentation of memorial wreath; 21 gun salute, and Taps.

We agree with and appreciate this Ronald Reagan quote:

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.

"We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream.

It must be fought for, protected and handed on, for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where we were free."

Thank our military, veterans, and their families this Nov. 11, 2009, for their part in America's freedom!
