Hormel Foods Corp.'s redesigned Web site for recipes features ways to make meals that are "budget friendly" and a calculator to help scale the number of servings.

What happened: Hormel Foods has added features to its recipe Web site.

Why it matters: The additions aim, in various way, to help people in preparing meals and to keep Hormel's brands part of those cooking decisions.

The company announced the launch of its redesigned recipe site showcasing many of the company's brands, including Hormel, Spam, Jennie-O Turkey Store, Chi-Chi's, Herdez and Valley Fresh.

Hormel has incorporated tips to help the site's users with "every aspect of preparing meals," company spokeswoman Julie Craven stated in a news release.

With the new features, the release says, people can browse value-recipe options; easily prepare a meal for any number of people by using a recipe calculator; score recipes on a five-star scale; and find meal solutions for people who have special diets, such as gluten-free meals, by using "clearly labeled" recipes.

"We hope new and experienced chefs enjoy searching through the thousands of available recipes," Craven said. "To make every mealtime easy and fun, we have added meal planning and shopping advice tips and how-to videos on a variety of essential kitchen skills."
