As a woman put her two kids to bed Saturday night, someone apparently broke open the back door to her southwest Austin home.
Investigators were unsure if someone ever entered the home in the 300 block of Fourth Street Southwest; nothing appeared to be missing, Police Chief Paul Philipp said Monday.
The 21-year-old woman, who was upstairs at the time, called police about 10:45 p.m. after hearing a loud sound from the first floor, Philipp said.
Police found the frame for the door, which had been locked, was broken.
Officers cleared the home and tried to track the suspect using a police dog, with no success.
