The Northwestern Singers will host the 10th annual benefit concert this weekend.
The concert, "Why We Sing," will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Tickets are $8 and are available at Hy-Vee, St. Edward's Catholic Church or from NWS members. Seating is limited so tickets may or may not be available at the door.
Proceeds from the concert go to participating area youth music programs. To date, the Northwestern Singers have given $25,000 to area school youth music programs.
The Austinaires and Pacelli Singers are the anchor high school youth groups. Younger groups performing this year are Banfield Elementary choir, Austin Area Catholic Schools' elementary and middle school choirs, and Ellis Middle School. The Northwestern Singers will perform three songs from the upcoming January show.
There also will be a special guest performance by the Irish Minstrels, a popular area folk singing group.
