LL Cool J is not giving up his music for "NCIS: Los Angeles," but he's finding a huge challenge in the role.
"I'm really excited about this show. It's really exciting for me to finally be doing something where I'm actually, like, new. I'm not like the elder statesman of hip-hop walking into the room," he said. "I'm actually an unproven guy that's trying to make something happen for you guys, and that's a great dynamic for me.
"If you look at it for me as a human being, it gives me a chance to grow ... I tease, but I'm very serious. I think teamwork makes the dream work. I think that it's about each one of us helping each other. It's about us trusting each other. It's about us, corporately as a group, really trying to make this thing work and then approaching it with humility."
LL Cool J co-stars as Special Agent Sam Hanna on "NCIS: Los Angeles," which airs 8 p.m. Tuesdays on CBS.
