Professors' performance features chamber music

The Rochester Chamber Music Society continues to bring music to everyone's ears with a free concert by The Murasaki Duo.

When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Fifth Ave. S.W. in Rochester

Admission: Free.

The duo is made up of two Luther College professors, Eric Kutz on cello and pianist Miko Kominami, who both trained at the Juilliard School. Kutz has been an associate professor of music at Luther College since 2002. Kominami is a piano faculty member at Luther and the principal keyboardist of the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra.

In 1996, the husband and wife pair formed The Murasaki Duo, which is dedicated to performing cello and piano literature as chamber music.

This concert is part of the chamber music society's mission this year to be accessible to all members of the community by offering a free, donation-based admission policy.

On the program will be Pampeana No. 2 by Alberto Ginastera, Beethoven's Sonata in A Major, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's "Figaro" from Rossini's "Barber of Seville," Chopin's Polonaise Brillante, and Peccavi Duo by Maria Newman.
