ROCHESTER -- Cheri A. Clark, 61, of Rochester, died Oct. 28, 2009, at her home, following a three-month battle with cancer.
Cheri was born in Rochester on Aug. 25, 1948, the daughter of Joseph and Sis (Lindberg) Guzinski. She graduated from John Marshall High School. She married James J. Clark in Rochester in 1966, and the couple later divorced in 1993.
She is survived by her father, Joseph Guzinski of Rochester; her brother, Joe (Pam) Guzinski, and her niece, Sarah, of Rochester; her close personal friend, Cliff Hewitt, his three sons and six grandchildren; Cheri's two daughters, Melissa Clark (Paul) Freetly of Rochester and Jamie Jo (Brent) Johnson of Rochester; and four grandchildren, Danielle and Nora Freetly, and Hailey and Michael Johnson. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Cheri was an active member of the Olmsted County DFL, having worked many political campaigns. She was one of the founding members of the Olmsted County DFL Women's Club. She was an accomplished gardener and rock collector, spending many hours working in her yard.
She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and companion.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. at Macken Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to services.
Memorials are suggested to Mayo Hospice or to the family, to be used toward a memorial park bench in her name.
