HARMONY -- Arthur "Art" Lubrecht, 100, of Harmony, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the Harmony Healthcare.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, at Saetersdal Lutheran Church in rural Harmony, with Rev. Maureen Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Saetersdal Cemetery.
Arthur Lubrecht was born on Aug. 20, 1909, in Pine City, Minn., the son of Ferdinand and Mary Lubrecht. He attended school in Pine City. He worked at U.S. Steel in Duluth. He then worked for Silver Bay Mining Co. in Silver Bay, Minn. On April 15, 1958, he married Opal Bjortomt at the Saetersdal Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Bristol, Minn.
Art worked for the milk packaging plant in Preston. He finished his working career for HECO in Harmony. In 1969 they moved to Greenleafton and remained there until 2005, when they moved to Harmony Manor in Harmony.
Art was a member of Saetersdal Lutheran Church. He was an avid Twins fan, loved music and loved to whistle. He always had a smile on his face and dearly loved his wife, Opal.
He is survived by his wife, Opal; one daughter, ClaraAnn Young of Esko, Minn.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, daughter Margaret Francis and son Raymond; seven brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from noon until the service time Sunday at the church.
