ROCHESTER -- Brandon S. Hanson, 24, died in Rochester on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009.

Brandon Scott Hanson was born June 5, 1985, to Mark D. and Kelly Jo (Van Wier) Hanson in Rochester. Brandon graduated from Mayo High School in 2004 and attended RCTC. He was a self-employed construction contractor in Rochester.

He enjoyed hunting, along with fishing and boating up north on Lake Vermillion. He also enjoyed snow skiing and hockey. Brandon was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Brandon is survived by his parents, Mark and Kelly Jo Hanson of Rochester; his sister, Brittney Hanson of Rochester; maternal grandparents Henry and Karen Van Wier of Rochester; paternal grandparents Gene and Ingeborg Hunder of Rochester and David and Pam Hanson of Little Falls, Minn.; his aunt, Karen (Bryan) O'Donnell of Port Angeles, Wash.; and his uncle, Scott (Joelle) Van Wier of Fountain Hill, Ariz. He is also survived by his cousins.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and also one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Mayo Clinic Foundation for research.
