ROCHESTER -- Robert LaVern Christenson, 87, of Rochester, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his residence.
Robert LaVern Christenson was born July 28, 1922, in Blooming Prairie to John and Adena (Paulson) Christenson. He attended rural schools in Blooming Prairie. Robert married Janet Mildenstein on March 12, 1955, in Austin. He farmed in Hayfield for 60 years and retired in 2004. Robert and his wife moved to Rochester in 2007.
He enjoyed auctions, parades and the companionship of his dogs. His happiest moments were those spent atop the seat of his tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Christenson of Rochester; two children, Randell (Vicki) Christenson of Rochester and Linda (Brian) Meier of Sanborn, Minn.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one sister, Lorene (Edgar) Gosewisch of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st St. S.E., Hayfield, with the Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
