HARMONY -- Susan Marie (Morgan) Reiss of Diamond, Mo., passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at her home following a long battle with cancer.
Sue was born May 16, 1962, in Cresco, Iowa, to Charles Morgan and Bernadine Kelly. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1980. She earned her Associate of Applied Science Degree from Vermillion Community College in Ely, Minn., in 1982.
On Oct. 14, 1989, Sue married John J. Reiss in Chester, Iowa. She worked for several parks within the U.S. Park Service for 27 years, and most recently was chief of maintenance for the George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond, Mo.
Sue was a member of the St. Caneras Catholic Church in Neosho, Mo. She loved fishing, baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals and, most of all, her family.
Survivors include her husband and her son, Keith; her father, Charles and his wife Emily of Harmony; her mother, Bernadine Kelly of Cresco, Iowa; brothers, Rick (Gin) of Dilworth, Minn., Joe (Lori) of Lake City, Tim (Bev) of Rochester and Tom (Renee) Morgan of Hamden, Conn.; sister, Mary (Harlan) Larson of Lime Springs, Iowa; stepbrothers, Larry (Rosie) of Rochester, Dwight (Deb) of Harmony and Wayne (Deb) Scrabeck of Sandstone, Minn.; and stepsister, Karen Scrabeck (Edward Dains) of Bend, Ore. Many nieces and nephews survive her, as well as her close friend, Jane Forliti.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Chester, Iowa, with Fr. Ray Atwood as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the American Cancer Society. Friends are asked to mail memorials to Midland Cremation Society, 1515 W. 10th St., Ste. B, Joplin, MO 64801.
