ROCHESTER -- Sara Nyberg-Faupel, of 1647 Wilshire Dr. N.E., passed away at the age of 40, after an eleven-month illness with colon cancer.

Sara's celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Peace United Church of Christ, 1503 2nd Ave. N.E. in Rochester, with her dear friend Pastor Paul Bauch officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church, and one hour before the service.

Sara was born April 23, 1969, in St. Paul, and was the daughter of Marvin and Mary Nyberg. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1987 where she was active in many activities including danceline. After a year of college, Sara found her true passion and became a talented hair stylist and make-up artist. Sara began her career at Kathleen's on 2nd and, in 1993, partnered in opening Cutting Loose Hair Salon. In 2003, Sara sold her portion of the salon and moved to Riah Hair Studio, where she worked until her retirement in December 2008. She loved the creativity of her career and the relationships she had with her clients.

In October 2005, Sara met her beloved husband, David, and they married Oct. 7, 2006. Although their years together were limited, Dave and Sara shared a deep devotion and adoration toward each other.

Sara was an eloquent woman with radiance and beauty that glowed wherever she was. Her eternal optimism and positive outlook on life will be missed by all who knew her. Her many interests included reading, physical fitness, fine food, clothes and jewelry. She especially enjoyed being at home, or her cabin in Hayward Wis., with David and her dogs.

Sara was such a giving person and loved to anonymously provide to those in need. If she were physically with us now, she'd kindly ask us all to "Please pay it forward."

Sara is survived by her husband, Dave Faupel of Rochester, devoted father, Marvin Nyberg of Rochester, and a sister, Amy Nyberg of Bloomington, Minn. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Mary Nyberg, who passed away just one month ago.

The family respectfully requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to the Sara Nyberg foundation. These memorials will be given to Sara's favorite nonprofit animal shelters that she cared so much about.
