Bonnell Jean "Bonnie" Distad, 71, of Burnsville, and a former Rochester resident, passed away Saturday Jan. 12, 2013.
She was born to Franklin and Bernice (Benedict) Bush and grew up in the Rochester area. On Aug. 23, 1961, she married Jerome "Jerry" Distad and he preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1995. During their marriage they also had lived in Lincoln, Neb., from 1969-1984, returning to Rochester and then moving to Burnsville in 1987. Bonnie was self-employed in arts and crafts and used her artistic talents to teach many classes and assist others.
She was a true caregiver always concerned with others and enjoyed the time she spent in daycare taking care of children. She enjoyed gardening, reading and genealogy as well.
Surviving are two sons, Trevor Distad (Helen) of Pine Island and Trent Distad of Nebraska; her longtime companion, Glenn Elfmann of Burnsville; six grandchildren, Danielle Lesage, Nathan and Nicholas Distad, Taylor and Matthew Lambert and Melaina Distad.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
