The memorial service for Darlene Marie Ravenhorst was held at 10:30 a.m. today, Aug. 27, 2012, at The Samaritan Bethany Chapel, with Pastor David Badgley officiating. Burial was in Hollandale Cemetery in Hollandale.

Darlene, 86, of Rochester, formerly of Lake City, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Samaritan Bethany.

Darlene was born July 25, 1926, in Wells. On July 21, 1943, she was married to Herman Ravenhorst of Hollandale. The couple lived in Hollandale, Rochester and Lake City. Herman preceded her in death in June 1996.

Darlene was an avid homemaker, excellent cook, loved to play Bingo and was the family Yahtzee queen. She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Lake City and attended the Congregational Church of Lake City.

Survivors include four daughters, Marjorie (Rodney) Smoot of Eau Claire, Wis., Sharon (Garry) Chilson of Bryson City, N.C., Rev. Ilene Blanche of Lake City and Patricia (Alan) Wolf of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sons, David (Linda) Ravenhorst of Lake City and John (Iann) Ravenhorst of Rochester; two sisters, Lorraine Nielson and Virginia Busch; and two brothers, James Olson and Dennis Olson. Also survived by sisters-in law and many nieces and nephews. Darlene has 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, a brother and sister, a son, a grandson and a great-great-grandson.
