Lloyd A. Bartholmey, 83, formerly of Kasson, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville, Iowa.
Lloyd was born in Stacyville, Feb. 23, 1929, to Joseph and Florence (Adams) Bartholmey. His education started at Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville until 1939; then he transferred to the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After school Lloyd worked many different jobs in construction. He especially took pride in his work on Queen of Angels Church, in Austin.
Lloyd married Elda Geraldine Abben of Little Cedar, Iowa, on Dec. 27, 1952. They made their home in Kasson. They became parents of a son, Robert Lloyd Bartholmey in 1969. Lloyd managed the apartment building they lived in for over 50 years. He worked for Telex Corporation in Rochester for 35 years.
Lloyd enjoyed his beloved dogs, fishing, woodworking, gardening and telling stories. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Elda, a brother, Wm Clifford, and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Robert L. Bartholemy of Pine Island; a brother, Dale Bartholmey of Charles City, Iowa; a sister, Jane (Allen) Smolik of Osage, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Deloris Bartholmey of New Richland; and many nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at St. Margaret's Cemetery in Mantorville, where interment will be alongside his late wife, Elda.
