While the public is considering the pros and cons of hydraulic fracking and the jobs that might be created through frac-sand mining, I wish to speak out about my father's experience.

He was a shaft miner for a couple of years, before the days of OSHA and face masks. He didn't seem to be experiencing any problems, so he thought that breathing silica dust wasn't hurting him.
