BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox's attempt to woo Ryan Boldt appears to have failed, as the Red Wing baseball standout remains committed to playing at the University of Nebraska.

Boldt was flown to Boston on Thursday night for a three-day visit, which included watching a game at iconic Fenway Park. WEEI, a Boston radio station, reported Friday night that the Red Sox could offer Boldt a seven-figure signing bonus — reflecting his status as one of the draft's top prospects — to "put their best foot forward in an effort to persuade Boldt to turn pro rather than enroll at Nebraska."
