BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Led by Sam Warning's goal and two assists, the University of Minnesota men's hockey team had 10 players contribute to the scoring as the No. 5-ranked Golden Gophers defeated Bemidji State University 6-3 in the Beavers' home opener.

Bemidji opened the scoring just 3:35 into the first period, but Minnesota would reel it back in 61 seconds later and midway through the frame take a lead it would not relinquish .

The Gophers led 37-21 in shots on goal.

The teams play again tonight.

Women defeat Duluth

DULUTH – The No. 1-ranked Minnesota women's hockey team scored three third-period goals to skate to a 4-0 win over No. 7 Minnesota Duluth at AMSOIL Arena Friday night.

Four different Gophers scored goals as Minnesota (5-0-0, 3-0-0 WCHA) kept its 54-game winning streak alive and improved to 5-0-0 on the year. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs (2-2-1, 0-2-1-0 WCHA) are still seeking their first Western Collegiate Hockey Association victory of the season.

Sophomore Amanda Leveille made 26 saves in her second-straight shutout for the Gophers. She is now riding 168:57 scoreless minutes after last surrendering a goal at the 11:03 mark of the first period against Wisconsin on Oct. 11.
