SocialICE, the Rochester Downtown Alliance’s annual ice festival, will return in February 2021. It just won’t look like what you’re used to.

Usually, SocialICE draws between 38,000 and 67,000 participants. Downtown bars serve drinks at ice bars (decorated with thematic ice sculptures), and Rochesterites huddle around large fire pits to warm up in between pit stops.

This year, the RDA has planned to space it way out, with a large, community ice sculpture downtown and distanced activities.

On the menu: an ice-sculpture design contest called Improv-ICE (with community voting through December), takeout initiatives from downtown restaurants (a la the summer’s Virtual Thursdays Downtown), and more. Keep an eye on for updates.
