The 8th Annual Pine Island Winter Fest will take place Saturday, Jan. 30, with a self-serve theme.

The outdoor festivities will include groomed snowshoe trails at the Pine Island Golf Course, as well as cross-country skiing trails, if there's enough snow.

Luminaries lit by Pine Island's Roots and Shoots club will start in Trailhead Park, proceeding to the Douglas Trail, out to Eighth Street Southeast.

A Pine Island Scavenger Hunt, beginning Jan. 20, will be held via the Pine Island Chamber website — check for new questions each day. Hard copies of the Scavenger Hunt will be available at the Van Horn Public Library.

Finally, participants can sign up for the (new) Great Pine Island Cardboard Sled Race on Saturday, Jan. 30, online at t.ly/r8P4.

Several area businesses will also post Winter Fest promotions before Saturday.

The Pine Island Chamber and Image Committee have asked residents to wear a mask or other face covering while participating in the events, remain at least 6 feet away from others, and stay home if they are sick.
