'True friends are always together in spirit'

Riverland Theatre stages a one-act adaptation of “Anne of Green Gables” Friday through Sunday.

“Anne of Green Gables is such a beloved story,” Riverland Theatre director Lindsey Duoos Williams said. “Fans of the novel and the screen adaptations will enjoy seeing these characters come to life on stage, and it’s also the perfect way to introduce someone new to Anne’s story. She is such an enthusiastic and optimistic character; Anne’s joy in life will inspire you. This one-act adaptation runs just about an hour long, so it’s appropriate for our younger audiences as well.”

COVID-19 policies require audience members to wear masks during the production.

There are two 7 p.m. performances Nov. 19 and 20, and one 2 p.m., Nov. 21 performance in the Frank W. Bridges Theatre on Riverland’s Austin Campus (1900 Eighth Ave. NW, Austin). Tickets are $10, available at www.riverland.edu/tickets, by calling 507-433-0595, or in-person one hour before each performance.
