Are you a friend? Check your Facebook privacy settings

Facebook is riding some choppy waters as of late over its privacy policies. Now it's taking notice. Look for more from the company about how it is changing its usage of your information. In the meantime, you might want to tinker with your settings. Here's a good site that will scan your Facebook account and offer you suggestions on how to protect yourself. Overall it looks like it's building itself as a clearinghouse on info on Facebook, so it might be worth a bookmark. It's worth a look.

Quick magazine

Who says magazines, or for that matter newspapers, are dead? Here's a group that started 48HR Magazine. You get a sampling of the stories on the site and then you can buy the 60-page mag at Magcloud , an online, on-demand magazine printing operation. It's worth a read. Here's their schtick to hype things, but even so the stories I sampled were pretty good: "We made 48HR Magazine over one weekend in May. Over 1,500 submissions came into our pop-up HQ and two dozen editors selected 70 pieces to fill the paper magazine."

Election year

Yes, yes, folks say they're sick and tired of being sick and tired of endless elections. Well, tough. It's here. Election season is full upon us as the filing period opened for the 2010 fall elections. Here's the Minnesota Secretary of State's site that's worth reviewing for information as well as who's filed for what on the state level. Give it a peek.

Cartooning

I dug up Zach Miller's site recently for a check in our Rochester guy's Joe and Monkey strip. Zach is living and working in the Twin Cities, but he still soldiers on with his strip. It's one you want to plug into for a few sessions, so you get the feel for the characters and their ongoing antics, but it will produce some chuckles.
