After 12 years on North Broadway, a quirky women's boutique has closed its doors.

Lilliansclosed its doors at 223 North Broadway for good at the end of June.

The franchise shop sold an array of upbeat and bright clothing, handbags and accessories. It had a special schedule of limited days when it was open, to create a festive atmosphere for shoppers.

Tom Mansager and Dawn McClintockopened it in 2007 and then sold it in 2010 to Nikki and Chad Kranebell.

The potential changes at the Holiday Inn Downtownhotel are still in the works.

That's the word from insiders involved in the deal to sell the hotel the 170-room hotel at 220 Broadway Ave. South. The unnamed buyer is said to be planning to convert the 46-year-old hotel into a senior living facility.

Since 2006, it has been owned by Mike Bhatka. Built in 1969, less than half of the massive concrete complex actually houses the hotel as well as its conference rooms, pool and restaurant. The hotel just occupies floors two through eight of the 16-story building.

This deal has been in the works for quite a while and the hotel reportedly is already shedding staff, so it's reasonable to believe it will wrap up yet this summer. – Jeff Kiger
