Heard on the Street: Business networking events to wrap up 2013
There's still time in 2013 for a couple more business education and networking opportunities.
The week before Christmas often means business action, other than retail sales, goes into hibernation until the new year.
However, there are two events — an introduction to Angel investingand the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce's final Business After Hoursgathering — scheduled Thursday evening.
• The Mayo Clinic Business Acceleratoris hosting the free Angel investing seminar at the accelerator offices on the skyway level of the city-owned Minnesota BioBusiness Centerin downtown Rochester.
David Russick, managing director of the Minneapolis-based investment group Gopher Angelswill speak at 7 p.m. after a round of networking that begins at 6:30 p.m. Russick's presentation will discuss angel investing, the Minnesota angel credit and local investment opportunities. A question-and-answer session followed by more networking is scheduled to end the evening from 7:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
While the event is free, the space in the Business Accelerator is limited. That means registration is recommended. To register, go here on eventbrite.com
• The Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce also is gathering for its last networking bash of the year on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Energy Products & Design Inc.at 497 37th St. N.E.
This free event is open to the employees of the more than 1,400 businesses that are members of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce, the largest such group in the state.
To wrap up the year, this final BAH is being hosted by the business owned by the chamber's 2014 board chair, Brent Buchan.
