United Way of Olmsted Countyhas hired Kris Breweras community and corporate engagement director.
Brewer was relationship services coordinator at the United Way and has held other positions there as well.
"Because of Kris' background within United Way, she brings to this position years of experience from working with our Volunteer Center, numerous initiatives, and with our annual campaign," United Way President Laura Bowman said. "We're structuring this position to help United Way further work with our community by providing community and corporate engagement opportunities, and Kris is the perfect fit for this work."
Brewer will further engage volunteers, donors and the community-at-large with service opportunities that advance the work of United Way. This work will largely involve connecting volunteers with engagement opportunities at both the individual and corporate levels.
Brewer, of Rochester, has worked with United Way of Olmsted County for 10 years. Prior to United Way, she worked with Community Net as Volunteer Center director and in community education at Rochester Public Schools.

NEW POET GM:POET Biorefining -- Preston has named Chris Hanson as the plant's new general manager. Hanson previously worked there as the technical manager and will now be responsible for overseeing the 46 million-gallon-per-year ethanol production facility.
"I am very excited to begin this new chapter here at POET Biorefining -- Preston," said Hanson. "Since coming to POET, I've truly enjoyed the opportunity to work with our team members not only here at Preston, but across the entire POET network."
Before joining POET in 2005, Hanson held various engineering and operating management positions with U.S. Steel in Northern Minnesota and also served eight years with the Air Force National Guard, maintaining F-16 fighter jets. Hanson earned his MBA from Bethel University in St. Paul and his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota -- Duluth. — Mike Klein
